← THE JOURNAL / INTEGRITY
Who are you when the choice costs you?
A reflection on integrity, opportunity, and the standards that protect what you are building.

Integrity has a minimum
The wallet I found when I had almost nothing taught me that a standard becomes real when violating it would be profitable.
Returning that wallet was not a strategy for receiving a reward. It was evidence of the man I was deciding to become. If integrity only exists when the choice is easy, it is not yet a standard. It is a preference.
The same principle appeared throughout my life. I walked away from a television opportunity when the version being built did not feel authentic. I did not know whether another door would open. The decision cost something, but accepting work that separated me from myself would have cost more.
